From the Normandy landings in June ‘44 to the Six Day War of June ‘67, JUNE stands out as the milestone month for Israel to have held the the Veteran Games organized by the Beit Halochem (House of the Warrior) organisation. Families from the UK accompanied their wounded loved ones to Israel in keeping with the organization’s philosophy that all in the family play a crucial role when injured ‘vets’ returns home from war. THE KNESSET BUDGET CELEBRATION
Perpetual poverty for part of the population should never be government policy

Israel’s controversial 2023 budget will increase state handouts to religious institutions denying their ever-increasing young members an education to secure employment and provide for their families. This policy will cost taxpayers billions of shekels and result in a growing section of society dependent on government handouts for generations. The writer, an accountant, wrestles with the impact on Israeli society.
