May you Live Long and be Prosecuted

By Efraim Zuroff

“Me, never!” Chilling moment when aging suspected Nazi death squad guard Wahler denies his presence at mass executions.

Despite the mass murderous role played by the Einsatzgruppen in the Holocaust, relatively few of those who carried out the killings were brought to justice. At 100, Herbert Wahler has outlived other Germans listed as members of the genocidal Einsatzgruppe C. His age should not shield him from accountability.

The Danger of Desmond

A Light Unto his Nation – a Dark Side to Jews

By David E. Kaplan

‘Lost’ in Thought. Having remarked “Gas chambers made for a neater death” –  what was Tutu thinking at Yad Vashem.

The recently departed Archbishop Desmond Tutu  was a shining example of a fighter against injustice. And here lies the conundrum! How are we to relate to the legacies of legends who have contributed significantly to mankind but have revealed themselves unapologetic antisemites?

The BBC – on the Frontier of Antisemitic Bias

Written by Lay of the Land UK correspondent

BBC Bias. The majority of British Jews are deeply concerned by the BBC’s handling of antisemitism complaints.

Since its founding in 1922, the BBC has faced accusations of antisemitism. If during the Nazi era it declined to adequately expose the horrors of the Holocaust with the ‘defence’ that Jews were “not reliable reporters”, in November 2021 it reported on a mob attack on a bus with Jewish passengers in London as having been “provoked”!

Bnei and Bnot Mitzvah and the Quest for Meaning

By Richelle Budd Caplan

Not Forgotten. A Bar Mitzvah boy in the USA today, shares the experience with his European peer denied in the Shoah.

What was it like to be a Jewish boy turning 13 or a Jewish girl turning 12 during the Holocaust unable to truly celebrate their Jewish rite of passage? Yad Vashem has launched a twinning bar/bat mitzvah program providing young Jews today with an extraordinary experience of connecting with Jewish children who were tragically denied the experience of a bar/bat mitzvah during the Holocaust.
